Unlock the power of nuts with activation!

Have you ever heard of activating nuts? If not, you’re missing out on an incredibly simple yet effective way to unlock the full potential of these superfoods. When you activate nuts, you are allowing them to release all their nutrients and maximise their flavour, making them a great addition to any meal or snack. Let’s take a look at why and how you should activate nuts for maximum health benefits.

What does activating nuts actually do?

Activating nuts is simply the process of soaking them in water and then drying them before consumption. This helps to soften them up, making them easier to chew and digest. Soaking also helps to remove phytic acid, which can block the absorption of important minerals like zinc, magnesium and calcium. Phytic acid can be found in many foods such as grains, legumes, seeds and nuts so it is important that we remove this wherever possible. The longer you soak your nuts, the more phytic acid will be removed.

The benefits of activating nuts

When you activate nuts, they become much more digestible, as well as being packed with plenty of nutrition. They are also very versatile – they can be used in salads, added to smoothies or mixed into porridge for extra crunch. You can even use activated nuts as a crunchy topping for muffins or cakes! By activating your nuts before consuming them, you will also get more bang for your buck – one cup of activated almonds contains more than three times the amount of protein than a cup of regular almonds.

Activating your own nuts at home is really easy – all you need is some water and a little bit of patience! Simply place the desired number of nuts into a bowl or container (you may want to use something with a lid) and cover them with filtered water until they are completely submerged. Leave them like this for 12-24 hours – the longer they soak, the softer they will become (just make sure to change the water at least once during this time). Once finished soaking, simply drain off any excess water and spread out on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Place in an oven set on its lowest temperature setting for 12-24 hours until completely dry. Once they’ve finished drying, store in an airtight container until ready for use!

If you want to get maximum nutrition from your nut consumption then activating is definitely worth trying out! Not only does it make the nuts easier to digest but it also removes any toxins or phytic acids that may otherwise block nutrient absorption. Plus, it adds extra crunchiness which makes it perfect for adding texture to salads or in granola. Give it a go today – happy activating!
