Seasonal produce is typically picked at the peak of ripeness, which means it will have more flavour and nutrients than produce that is picked early and shipped long distances. One of my all-time favourite recipes, this warming, smoky, roasted vegetable soup is full of delicious winter vegetables like carrots, celery and turnip. This recipe is extremely flexible, you can use whatever roast-able veggies you have in your fridge, so you can adapt it to use whatever seasonal produce is available. Some of my favourite add-ins are potatoes, zucchini and a head of garlic, which creates a beautiful rich, slightly-sweet garlic taste to the broth.
Tucking into a great big bowl of pasta is the peak of winter warmth, so this pesto recipe using seasonal avocados is sure to add warmth and flavour to work lunches this July. This pesto also makes for an amazing, levelled-up version of avocado toast or to add as a delicious base layer to a slice of bruschetta.
