Tyrrell’s Wines: Established in 1858, Tyrrell’s is one of the oldest family-owned wineries in Australia. The property includes over 100 acres of vines, as well as a cellar door, restaurant, and function space. The vineyards are located in two of the most highly regarded viticultural areas in the Hunter Valley: Pokolbin and Broke Fordwich. Tyrrell’s offers a range of red and white wines, as well as Sparkling wine and dessert wine. The Estate Range Shiraz is a must-try, as is the Old Winery Pinot Noir. Drayton’s Family Wines: Drayton’s was established in 1853 by Englishman George Drayton. The Drayton family has been making wine in the Hunter Valley for six generations. The vineyards are located in Pokolbin, one of the most popular viticultural regions in Australia. Drayton’s produces a range of red and white wines, as well as dessert wine and fortified wine. The Drayton Reserve Shiraz is a top pick, but all of their wines are definitely worth trying! The on-site restaurant, Cellar Door Bistro & Grill, offers seasonal cuisine made with local ingredients.
